The 6400-passenger ship Symphony OTS comprises 7 neighborhoods - Royal Promenade, Central Park, Boardwalk, Entertainment Zone, Sports Zone, Youth Center complex, Wellness complex. Symphony is currently the world's largest passenger ship by GT tonnage (228,100 tons), which is 1000+ GT-tons larger than the sistership Harmony OTS. It also has 28 more staterooms, new for RCI "Family Suite" (duplex apartment on 2 decks), redesigned Boardwalk area. In addition to onboard attractions like the Ultimate Abyss and laser tag, Symphony of the Seas also delivers some of the best entertainment in the cruising industry. Every show onboard is a hit, but you definitely can’t miss the dazzling performances at the AquaTheater. This open-air venue sets the stage for shows that blend dance, synchronized swimming, impressive aerial feats and captivating high-diving stunts by world-class performers.

They expect Symphony to be, by weight, the most energy-efficient ship at sea (a claim currently held by Harmony). “We were able to improve the ship’s energy efficiency by 20 per cent with about 100 different initiatives. The feature will debut on Symphony of the Seas and be rolled out across the entire Royal fleet. On the main stage, huge 4K screens on robotic arms delivered a dance performance (the show, something of a novelty gimmick, is featured on Quantum-class ships), before Fain made his presentation. The Symphony of the Seas can hold 5,518 based on double occupancy (two people per room) and more when you take into account 3rd and 4th passengers. When you compare the total tonnage of the ship to the number of passengers, the Symphony of the Seas has a space ratio of 41. Depending on the ship, this number can range from 30 to 52 (with a bigger number meaning more space per person) so this ship's space-to-person ratio is about average. The Symphony of the Seas uses a neighborhood layout to break up large crowds across the ship, often making it feel less crowded. You never know if later productions will have to be cancelled due to unfavorable sailing conditions. In fact, I found trying to squeeze everything in to be a bit overwhelming (totally worth it, though!). Our Sea, Sky and Star Class Suites offer complimentary services and amenities that make every moment unforgettable.
If you are looking for the freshest seafood, Hooked Seafood is the ultimate catch. A classic American steakhouse where every dish is prime perfection. Sing along to a chorus of ivory tickling classics at Schooner Bar nightly. Swirl through a champagne bowl funnel in Supercell℠, part of The Perfect Storm℠, the boldest waterslides at sea.
It was Fain who realised that the cruise industry’s image problem was in fact an opportunity. Convince sceptical land-lovers that cruise ships aren’t outdated, boring and, as an industry joke put it, full of “the newlywed and the nearly dead”, and Royal Caribbean could lock up customers for life. They are my favorite class of ship, so I was hoping to see if Symphony of the Seas lived up to my expectations.
The Symphony of the Seas is one of six Oasis-class ships currently sailing with Royal Caribbean. Oasis-class ships are the second largest class of cruise ships in the world. Their split-superstructure design creates unique outdoor spaces in the middle of the ship called Central Park and the Boardwalk. This class of ships also introduced the "neighborhood" concept, which groups venues into different themed zones to help improve people flow. The Symphony of the Seas is very similar to its sister-ships; Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, Wonder of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas, although each ship may have some differences.

Kulovaara’s New Build department is located in Royal Caribbean’s Innovation Lab, which is based in PortMiami – the largest passenger port – in Biscayne Bay, Florida. The team has around 200 people, including naval architects, interior designers, engineers and project managers. Knock your bucket list out of the park with a Western Mediterranean cruise.

These are currently the world's biggest passenger liners ever constructed. RCCL planned ship's cost per berth to be lower compared to Allure and Oasis. Like the sisterships, Symphony OTS has telescoping funnels to be able to sail under bridges.
But close quarters enable outbreaks, so sanitation regulations at sea are stringent. Every part of the ship, from lift buttons to the casino’s chips, are sanitised daily; interior materials have to stand up to the high level of chlorination from the constant cleaning. Rubbish is frozen in vast storage containers to slow bacteria growth and is only removed in port. Kulovaara, Fain and the Royal Caribbean management team were visiting another of their ships, Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Edge, due to sail in November 2018.
As far as onboard attractions, entertainment, and family-friendly activities go, Symphony of the Seas offers something for every vacationer. We’ve covered ten of the top things to do on this record-breaking Oasis Class cruise ship, but once you step aboard you’ll find we’ve only scratched the surface of ways you can fill every sea day. Symphony of the Seas – which, on its maiden voyage from Barcelona in March 2018 became the largest passenger ship ever built – is about five times the size of the Titanic. At 362 metres long, you could balance it on its stern and its bow would tower over all but two of Europe’s tallest skyscrapers. To put it another way, Symphony of the Seas might be the most ludicrously entertaining luxury hotel in history. You’re likely imagining crisped-pink pensioners bent double over shuffleboard, cramped cabins, bad food and norovirus.
Symphony OTS features a multi-deck waterslide area that was introduced first on Harmony OTS. It is also the second Oasis-class liner with robot bartenders serving drinks (Bionic Bar) - a concept first introduced in 2014 on Quantum of the Seas. Symphony has bigger cabins than Allure and Oasis (in some categories) and windowless interior cabins (Virtual Balconies) offering real-time views (first introduced in 2014 on Navigator of the Seas). The next YouTube video shows the most prominent features and the shipbuilding process of Oasis 3 class - the world's ever largest cruise liners. In the past, I have been disappointed with the lack of complimentary dining options onboard Royal Caribbean ships. Thanks to the Royal Amplification program, though, many ships have begun to get more options, following in the footsteps of Oasis Class ships.
At this Instagram-worthy drinking spot, two robotic bartenders shake, stir and muddle drinks with fluid moves and flawless efficiency. You can choose a classic or signature drink from the menu or enter your own recipe into one of the iPads at the bar. Even if you’re not looking to get your sip on, you should still stop by just to watch these mecha mixologists work. “We’re constantly using design to alter the perspective of the room environment,” says Gonzalez.
